These properties can prevent degenerative conditions of the muscle skeletal structure from progressing and treat, (avoiding many pathologies): tendonitis, fasciitis, periarthritis, post traumatic situations and painful muscular syndromes. The effectiveness of mud and water therapy has been recognised both by scientists and by the Italian Ministry of Health. Therefore, every Italian citizen is entitled to one course of thermal therapy per year, in accordance with an agreement with the national healthcare system. Typical therapeutic treatments with thermal mud have to take place under medical supervision; it has to be physiologically adapted, both at a metabolic level and at a cardiovascular one. It is not advisable to undertake such therapy for less than a week.
