Sport is one of the best ingredients for a healthy and rewarding life, an excellent defence against ageing and a world where competing means harmony and ability to stay with the others, both playmates and opponents. We truly admire sporting people and to them we dedicate our best skills and attention particularly when, as a result of trauma or accident, they need to get back into form quickly. We would like to thank Marco Bortolami, leader in a noble and very hard sport, for having chosen Ermitage Bel Air and for having accepted to represent its image and values.

Marco Bortolami on the field…

Marco began his career in the juniores of Petrarca Padova standing out immediately for his leadership, in and outside the field. As a matter of fact, despite his young age, he became Captain of all the teams he played with, among which, the Under 15-17-18-19-21 of Petrarca and the Under 17-18-19-21 of the Italian National Team. Having reached an early physical and mental maturity, young Marco joined the first team of Petrarca, soon becoming its Captain (the youngest one in the history of the Club). Moreover, at only 21 years of age he became the youngest Captain of Italia Maggiore in a memorable match against the redoubtable All Blacks. In such match, the new Captain scored a try on interception running 70 metres.
In 2004 he joined the prestigious French club Narbonne (which belonged to the highest series of the French championship, Top XIV) becoming, once again, its Captain. After two seasons in France, Marco was made an offer by one of the most important European clubs, the Gloucester, to move to the UK and play in the hardest and most important championship of the Northern hemisphere, the Guinness Premiership. Only after a few weeks, Marco was awarded Captaincy also of the Gloucester, memorable and unusual fact for an Italian in Britain. With it, he won the Regular Season both for 2006/2007 and for 2007/2008.
In the meantime, Marco has always carried on playing with the Italian National Team, taking part to the World Cups 2003 and 2007, to all Six Nations championships and to the official Tours in the Southern hemisphere to play against All Blacks, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, etc...
Today, with his 70 matches, he is the Italian player with the highest number of matches played as Captain ever in the Italian National Rugby Team (37).

University and Charity

Marco is not only a great athlete and a leader in his sport, but he is also constantly committed outside the field. In spite of his many agonistic engagements, Marco is successfully carrying on his studies at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Padua and, in his free time, he promotes and supports charity organisations, like "Save the Children", "Un Maillot pour la Vie" and many others.
